Common Questions:

1) Can I really do a triathlon?

Yes!! With the proper training, nutrition and education, you can not only complete your first triathlon, but actually enjoy the process!! :)

2) How much time do I need to be ready for my first sprint triathlon?

The more weeks to build your base fitness, the better, but beginners who allow 12 weeks of committed training can reach the finish line injury-free. Hours dedicated to training per week for a beginner will range anywhere from 4-7 hours depending upon their fitness background and time availability.

3) What is a BRICK?

A BRICK is a workout where two disciplines are performed back-to-back with little or no rest in between. This is a great way to practice doing two events or disciplines back-to-back in simulation of what race day will feel like. The most common BRICK is Bike/Run. Other options are possible, including Swim/Bike.

4) What if I'm not a really good swimmer? (Ok, I can't really swim that well at all!)

That's ok. We can help. We understand. Really. We do. We've seen all types of responses to open water as well as in waist-deep pool water, so don't worry. We can get you ready for race day and get you through the swim. Preparation and education is key!!

5) I can't run. Is that ok?

Yes, you can still complete a triathlon even if you walk the entire run portion of the event. It is possible, though, to learn how to run even if you have no history of running. We will be able to guide you through this process -- gradually introducing speed and distance over time.

6)  Can my child complete a triathlon?

YES!  We are very passionate about encouraging and empowering young children to stretch themselves athletically - and what better way than the medium of triathlon?  Children as young as 4 years of age have completed our kids triathlon camps, and gone on to race competitively.  We love to help kids learn more about triathlon!

TrevAthlete.com can help! We're certified by USA Triathlon. We write training programs and deliver results! If you'd like us to speak at your next group meeting, contact us and we'll set it up. We also provide group training and corporate wellness programs as well as lecture series for specific training groups (beginner - advanced levels). Group swim, bike and run lessons can also be taught. Save money and learn!

Typical Triathlon Distances:
Sprint: 300 - 800 meter swim, 8-15 mile bike, 2-3 mile run.

Olympic: 1 mile swim, 18-25 mile bike, 6.2 mile run

Half-Ironman: 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run

AquaBike: Half-Ironman distances for the swim and bike. No run.

Ironman: 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run
